FedUp
An app that connects people facing food insecurity with neighbors who have food to share, designed with a student team in one time-boxed jam.

The challenge
Some people go hungry while good food gets thrown away.
As a mentor in the Adobe Creative Jam, I guided a team of SDSU students through a UX design competition focused on food insecurity. We started with the problem: access to food, and the paradox of food waste. That framing set up everything we designed next.
Ideation
Sketch the flow before the screens.
The brainstorm moved fast. I drew on my background in visual design and prototyping to turn our insights into designs, and the team split between sketching concepts and writing content.
The solution
Offer, request or trade, as easily as finding a place nearby.
FedUp connects people who need food with people who have it to share. Three simple actions, offer, request and trade, and a feed of what’s available nearby make it as easy to use as a map.
I rebuilt the app from the original Creative Jam screens as a working prototype: post an offer, request or trade, browse what’s nearby, and connect.

Reflection
Mentoring under a deadline.
Guiding a team through a time-boxed competition showed me how much mentorship matters: clear communication, quick decisions, and a space where creativity can thrive.
