Winning the Adobe Creative Jam

Context
About this project

As a mentor in the Adobe Creative Jam, I guided a team of SDSU students through a UX design competition focused on solving food insecurity. This experience wasn't just about design; it was a profound lesson in collaboration, mentorship, and rapid innovation.

The Challenge:
A Collaborative Discovery

Our journey began with a deep dive into the issue at hand. We identified critical pain points affecting those facing food insecurity, including access issues and the paradox of food waste. This research phase was pivotal, setting the stage for our solution-oriented approach.

Ideating for Impact:
Design Thinking in Action

The brainstorming session was a flurry of creativity. Leveraging my background in visual design and prototyping, I led the charge in transforming our insights into actionable designs. Our process—split between sketching concepts and developing content—was a testament to the power of diverse skills converging towards a common goal.

Crafting the Solution:
Bridging Gaps with Technology

We envisioned an application to connect those in need with food donors. This app, designed for simplicity and ease, aimed to mitigate food insecurity by facilitating direct connections. Our focus was on a user-friendly interface that would make finding help as straightforward as navigating to the nearest help.

The Mentor's Perspective:
Lessons Learned and Looking Forward

Reflecting on this experience, I realized the immense value of mentorship in the design world. Guiding a team through the pressures of a time-constrained competition, I learned the importance of clear communication, quick decision-making, and fostering a space where creativity could thrive.
